Eye tracking diagrams online

Wroblewski, Luke. 2008. Web Form Design: Filling In the Blanks. New York: Rosenfeld Media. I haven't yet read it, but Luke Wroblowski's new book Web Form Design: Filling In the Blanks is associated with a bunch of free content on Flickr. The publishers took almost every image from the book and added them to Flickr. The photo set illustrates a number of good form design concepts, including:

  • Text box lengths can help user understand how to answer questions
  • Text instructions above form element aren't likely to be read
  • Required fields should be marked on the form elements, not the labels

The coolest images are from eye tracking reports, showing how many eye fixations and saccades are necessary to fully perceive even a fairly simple online form.
